Hansen sells NZ home, moves to Sydney for new role - luxury home
Sir Steve Hansen sold his Lake Wanaka home for $NZ7.3 million, 11 days after listing.

Former All Blacks coach Sir Steve Hansen and his wife Natasha have sold their luxury home in New Zealand’s Lake Wanaka for $NZ7.3 million ($5.8 million), just 11 days after listing it. The couple purchased the four-bedroom, three-bathroom property in 2019 for $NZ3.2 million ($2.5 million). The home, located in the prestigious Far Horizon enclave, boasts an open-plan kitchen with a teppanyaki hot plate, a dining room, a second separate lounge, a butler’s pantry, and a wine cellar, alongside panoramic views of Lake Wanaka and the surrounding mountains.

The sale comes as Hansen, 67, takes on a new role with a Sydney-based rugby club. He previously led the All Blacks to two Rugby World Cup victories, first as assistant coach in 2011 against France and then as head coach in 2015, when they defeated Australia. His tenure with the All Blacks ended after the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan, marking the conclusion of eight years as head coach.

Hansen’s move to Sydney follows his departure from the All Blacks and his appointment to the Sea Eagles’ Northern Beaches headquarters. The region is already home to another high-profile New Zealander, former Prime Minister Ardern, who relocated there earlier this year with her partner Gayford and their daughter, Neve. Media reports suggest Ardern has purchased a home in Dee Why, making their move more permanent.
