Sharjah records 45% rise in FDI projects

Sharjah saw a 45% increase in foreign direct investment (FDI) projects for 2025, as reported by Mohamed Juma Al Musharrkh, chief executive of the Sharjah FDI Office (Invest in Sharjah). He conveyed these comments during a recent conversation with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) about global economic shifts and Sharjahâs overall preparedness.
Preparing for the 9th Sharjah Investment Forum
The Sharjah Investment Forum is set to take place on October 14th and 15th. It will be held at the Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre. The event is organized in partnership with the Ministry of Investment under the theme of ‘Building Adaptive Economies’.
More than 80 speakers will attend, including ministers, investors, entrepreneurs, experts, and decision-makers from around the world. They will discuss the changes reshaping business and methods for building economies capable of adapting to change.
Why Investors Choose the UAE
According to Al Musharrkh, the current wider picture has led to investors becoming more discerning when it comes to choosing where to invest, resulting in capital being concentrated in a smaller number of countries and sectors, with investors seeking stability and clarity.
Al Musharrkh, CEO of Invest in Sharjah, outlined that the UAE’s appeal to investors is based on four key factors, the first of which is the diversification of its economy, with non-oil sectors accounting for 79.4% of the economy in the first quarter of 2026, driven by industries such as financial services and healthcare.

The UAE’s legislative framework is the second factor. It ranks highly for adaptability and low bureaucracy. The country also ranks fourth globally in legal and regulatory frameworks. This makes it an attractive destination for investors.
Al Musharrkh identified the third factor as people. Talent is key for a knowledge-based economy. The UAE has implemented policies to attract and empower talent. These efforts have boosted its rankings in employment and international experience.
The UAE’s early adoption of artificial intelligence is the fourth key factor. It was the first to appoint a Minister of State for AI in 2017. Over 70% of the working-age population now uses AI. This highlights the role of talent and technology in entrepreneurship.
Al Musharrkh noted that Sharjah, with its focus on production and knowledge, represents a unique economy within the UAE model, guided by the vision of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, which prioritises the needs of its people and provides a stable environment for investors.
